Carmen Reese
Carmen Reese has twenty-five years of experience specialized in middle grades (4-8), but she has taught Algebra 1 and Geometry in high school, as well. Her coaching practice is hugely impacted by gathering session data. She has been an Instructional Coach, Testing Coordinator, and Curriculum Design Administrator at the school and district level - helping her hone differentiation strategies that include collaborative efforts with teachers, tracking student progress to ensure that classroom modifications (if required) are being addressed daily, and implemented according to their IEP or 504 plans. Carmen feels that "coaching students to be classroom advocates for their own personal educational journey builds student efficacy and nourishes life long learning."
Christin Dickens
Christin Dickens has over 15 years of elementary education experience. She has taught foundational literacy skills to children ranging from two years old through fifth grade. Ms. Dickens believes reading is a life skill and everyone should have access to master this forte. Her favorite part about education is connection and relationship-building because she understands that scholars will learn everything they need to know once they know how much you care.
Emily Wilson
Emily Wilson has 6 years of experience as a classroom teacher in grades 2nd, 3rd, & 4th. In addition to her K-5 Teaching Certification, she has a Gifted Endorsement and is certified to teach Middle Grades Reading (6-8). Emily also received an M.Ed. in Language and Literacy in 2021 to accompany her B.S. in Elementary Education. She strives to instill a love of learning each session, and guides each child to reach their full academic potential.
F’iona Johnson
F'iona Johnson is a certified English Language Arts instructor who has taught grades six through twelve in both public and private institutions. She has adaptability with helping students demonstrate academic excellence through problem solving and critical thinking skills. She has worked with English language learners and students who were multiple years below grade level. She has a heart for helping students who are struggling with academics and makes every student feel loved.
Jocerlyn Hickson
Jocerlyn Hickson is currently in her fourteenth year of teaching all subjects, with a focus on Mathematics. Her background includes instructing elementary and middle school students in both traditional and alternative environments including developing, implementing, and instructing math programs, classes, and training. Jocerlyn believes that each child is a unique individual that needs a caring, secure, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially and she aims to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
Julie (JJ) Imperatori
Julie (JJ) Imperatori is a certified associate of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners with twelve years of tutoring experience in OG, reading and writing. She has also taught in grades 1-5 in both public and private schools. She holds Master’s degrees in English and Teaching. She works with your child at your location on your schedule in order to make tutoring as convenient as possible. She takes into account the unique personality of your child, using that information to help move forward academically. She has raised six children of her own, including one daughter who overcame dyslexia and is now attending college.
Marlina Hunt-Clark
Marlina is passionate about empowering students to reach their full potential through personalized learning experiences. With over 24 years of experience in special education, she specializes in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with dyslexia and ADHD. Her approach is student-centered and holistic, focusing on building confidence, fostering critical thinking skills, and promoting academic growth. She holds a master's degree in special education and her background equips her with tools and strategies to create engaging and effective learning environments tailored to each student's unique strengths and challenges. Whether it's developing executive functioning skills, improving reading comprehension, or mastering math concepts, she is committed to helping students succeed. Her goal is to instill a love of learning and empower students to become lifelong learners.
MJ Parker
MJ Parker has over 20 years as a proven educator in private and public schools in Florida, Georgia and the United Arab Emirates. She possesses a wealth of experience with the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) trained in Primary Years Programme (PYP) & Middle Years Programme (MYP). Extensive knowledge of Writer’s Workshop and cultivating strong writers. Ms. Parker is also dual certified in Elementary grades K-5 and Middle Grades 6-8 with concentrations in: Middle Grades ELA, Middle Grades Social Studies & and Middle Grades Science. She prides herself on building a rapport with her students and building a child’s academic confidence!
Paige Turner
Paige Turner is a retired teacher of 32 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University, and her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. In addition, Paige completed 100 hours of Orton-Gillingham training. Paige taught Kindergarten for 13 years, French, Physical Education, and PreK. Paige and Anne worked together at the Woodward Academy Primary School. Paige’s love of language, young children, and her friendship with Anne led her to Smarty Pants.
Saba Ferej
With a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T) in Elementary Education, coupled with an ESOL endorsement and ongoing pursuit of a Dyslexia endorsement, Saba brings a wealth of expertise to the realm of education. Her academic background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of teaching methodologies and strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. Having taught both Pre-K and First Grade, Saba has had the privilege of nurturing young minds at critical stages of their educational journey. Her true passion lies in teaching students how to read. Witnessing the transformative power of literacy and the joy it brings to students as they unlock the world of reading is incredibly rewarding!
Susan Brantley
Susan Brantley is an educator with almost 20 years of experience in both private and public schools. She has experience with both Wilson Fundations and Handwriting Without Tears. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Spelman College and her Masters degree in teaching from Brenau University. She has taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and First grade. Ms Brantley has a deep passion for working with children and truly strives to ensure that they reach their fullest potential.
Terra Andrews
Prior to moving to Atlanta a few years ago, Terra was an elementary school teacher in Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. She holds a Masters Degree in elementary teaching and is passionate about inspiring students to develop a lifelong love of learning. She believes that children should always be active participants in their learning and that starts with engaging lessons. She currently provides tutoring for K-3 math and upper elementary reading comprehension skills.
